Blinging
I am working on getting a sample of this project right now.
Elaine Harris has agreed to come teach us how to "bling" up our wardrobe. The price will be posted soon, but I think if you have a shirt or vest you would like to bling you can bring it on Super Saturday and the fee will only be the blings. We may also have generic t-shirts there to do. Please sign up to take this class in the comment section of this blog. Feel free to indicate what you would like to work on or how this class would work best for you.

Talent/Service Auction
Thanks to all who planned for and participated in the 1st annual talent and service auction. We had so much fun earning our Barker Bucks, eating yummy dessert, learning what our creative sisters came up with to donate, outbidding each other and visiting.
We had such a variety of things donated, including: flower pots and yard work, crafts and handiwork to baked goods, family history and editing work, decorating and musical skills, and even a family home evening on wheels...just to name a few.
Be thinking of what you would like to donate at our next auction (probably early next year).

12th Ward April Newsletter
Happy kind of Spring Brothers and Sisters. We hope you are
all doing well.
Being in the construction and real estate business, I have
always had a weakness for the show “Extreme Makeover
Home Edition”. Recently I watched one that the family had
a 19 year old son who was born blind and could not straighten
his arms or legs, crippling him. I expected it to be another
great program that I would quickly forget. I was wrong.
This young man touched my life in a way I did not think
possible. His positive attitude and appreciation of all he had
was amazing. At one point he made this statement, “I don’t
see blindness as a disability, but as an ability. Some people who
can see, only look on the outward appearance of people. I
can’t do this. All I can see is what is inside.” How wonderful
would this life be if we could all close our eyes when we
meet someone and meet what’s inside, and not care about
what we see.
The other thing I found amazing about this young man was
his ability to play the piano, and play it beautifully with
crippled hands. Each day we face challenges in our lives. Some
of these challenges are greater than others. At that point
we have the option to sit down and have a pity party, or the
option to dig in our heels and make the best of what we
have been given. Sometimes digging in our heels means good
hard work. Other times it may mean swallowing our pride
and asking forgiveness of a friend, neighbor or family member.
Other times it may mean a trip in to visit with the bishop to
begin the repentance process.
Eventually spring will arrive and with it the earth will once
again be renewed. May we take this opportunity to dig in our
heels and renew ourselves as well.
We love you and are grateful for your prayers on our behalf,

Spring has arrived and before you know it
summer will be here. We are trying to make
final preparations for camp so if you could take
a minute to look at your summer schedules and
see how many of you will be attending camp it
would be great. Also on that note we are in
need of kayaks, canoes and life jackets for use
during girls camp. If we could borrow those
it would be a big help please let one of the
leaders know.
As the end of school is coming we know many
of you are involved with lots of fun stuff with
school tryouts, sports, plays, graduation and we
want you all to know we wish the best for all
of you. You are all such special girls and have
so much to offer us and each other. Please

Bi-Stake Women's Conference
Joy In The Journey
Thirty years ago, when the North Ogden Stake Center was dedicated, under the direction of then Stake President, Calvin J. Heiner, a special "time capsule" box was constructed, painted, sealed and stored--then forgotten about. When the box was recently opened, the stake leaders found the "treasures" that each of the wards had contributed, and they decided it would be fun to highlight them, along with the anniversary of the dedication of the North Ogden Stake Center. We, as sisters, have found "Joy in the Journey" over the past 30 years in our lives, our homes, our families and the world.
Presideny Heiner will be speaking, the time capsule contents will be displayed, the singing group, "Aria" will perform and, as many of you may remember, the hilarious skit "Humor, Gotta Have it" with all its original members, will be presented again, after all these years. We are very excited about the night.

Stake Relief Society Stake Choir
The first Relief Society Stake Choir (for upcoming Stake Conference)
The first practice is this Sunday, February 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Stake Center.
We have committed to have about 12 sisters from each ward for the choir.
Practices: Sunday evenings 6:30 at the Stake Center - February 8, 15, 22
Sisters need to bring a Children's Song Book with them to practices.
Also, we are looking for 15 long white tablecloths. They belong to Kathy Buckmaster.
We thought that they were being stored at the Stake Center, but can't seem to locate them.
We would appreciate it if those of you who attend your meetings at the Stake Center could make an announcement. If sisters in your wards might have seen them or know where they may have been stored, please call Kathy at 782-9848.
